Sinopse
This book proposes several reflective and practical pathways for the maintenance and construction of the common good in the societies and cities of our time.
In short, the common good can and should be constructed through urban and political practices that strengthen the social fabric, rather than through its moral and ontological definition. This is the book’s central proposal, offering an entire research programme for political philosophy and, in particular, for the philosophy of the city.
For these reasons, this volume is important and urgent for all those who understand the significance of caring for the “ties that bind” citizens and other members of a political community within the State and the city. These ties, grounded only in the practical reconstruction of the “common good”, constitute today the very condition of possibility for political legitimacy and social justice and, arguably, even for our collective survival.
