Kahlil Gibran nasceu em 1883, no Líbano. Em 1912, mudou-se para Nova Iorque. O seu talento artístico revelou-se em áreas como a filosofia, a poesia e a pintura. Foi considerado uma figura de grande importância na literatura árabe moderna, com uma obra acentuadamente marcada pelo misticismo oriental, de onde se destaca este livro clássico. Pete Katz, descendente de irlandeses e de gregos, nasceu no East End londrino. Há quase vinte anos que trabalha como ilustrador freelance, e entre as muitas entidades com as quais já colaborou conta-se o British Museum. Faz parte do coletivo internacional de artistas Bad Apple e, além de desenvolver novelas gráficas, também desenha retratos.
