Jane Austen (1775-1817): Escritora inglesa proeminente, considerada como uma das maiores figuras da literatura inglesa, ao lado de Shakespeare, Dickens e Wilde, representa o exemplo de escritora, cuja vida protegida e recatada em nada reduziu a estatura e o dramatismo da sua ficção. A fama de Jane Austen perdura através de seis obras-primas principais: SENSIBILIDADE E BOM-SENSO (1811), ORGULHO E PRECONCEITO (1813), MANSFIELD PARK (1814), EMMA (1815), PERSUASÃO (1818) e A ABADIA DE NORTHANGER (1818), publicados postumamente. LADY SUSAN (escrito entre 1794 e 1805), The Brothers (iniciado em 1817, deixado incompleto e publicado em 1925 com o título SANDITON) e OS WATSONS (escrito por volta de 1804 e deixado inacabado) são outras de suas obras.
